Something Special Magazine - Interactive Special - Review

Something Special has been a part of our family life since Bud was small and all three of our children have enjoyed watching Mr Tumble on cBeebies. We've also bought the Something Special magazine from time to time, as it's packed with Early Years Foundation Stage activities and it really feels like children are learning as they enjoy their magazine treat. This month's Something Special magazine is really something special though, it includes special content which can be unlocked by using the free Blippar app which you can download to your smartphone and LM and I have been sent a copy to try out.

Something Special Magazine - Interactive Special Blippar app

I've been using Blippar for a little while now and already have it installed on my Samsung phone (it's available in the Google Play store) so getting to grips with the magazines unlockable content was a simple process. Open the app, point it at one of the 'Blipp points' and watch the video open. LM actually thought this was magic and couldn't understand how it worked! She loved watching the videos and it brought the content alive! This really adds an extra dimension to the magazine and was something I'd love to see in other magazines too.

The rest of the magazine is packed with the usual activities and interesting content. The Makaton signs are clearly explained and, as always there's a set of stickers to complete the pages, and lots of colouring and puzzles to complete. It's so bright and colourful and, as a parent, it's really clear how your child is learning as well as having fun by using the magazine.

As usual the magazine arrives with a free gift, two in this case! There's a Bedtime Tumble puppet to make and decorate and a little explorer's kit which LM was delighted by! She was soon out in the garden exploring with her magnifying glass and binoculars, looking for bugs!

Something Special Magazine - Interactive Special Blog review

We've loved exploring the interactive Something Special, there is so much fun packed into the pages which makes it well worth the £3:99 cover price. We still have lots of the pages to complete and investigate and LM keeps returning to it. A great buy!

Something Special Magazine is published by Immediate Media and is available from all usual stockists.
