Walkers Mighty Lights Crisps - A Review
We're big fans of crisps in our house and I'm very picky with the brands I let over the threshold. Walkers are my number one favourite brand so I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to test a brand new product they have recently launched with my family. Walkers Mighty Lights are a new ridged crisp, with 30% less fat. Perfect for lunchboxes or as a tasty treat for your family.Walker's Mighty Lights are available in three flavours - Lightly Salted, Cheese and Onion and Roast Chicken. We received a six bag multipack of each flavour so we could try them out properly. The first pack we opened was my favourite flavour - Lightly Salted. I generally really like ridged crisps, somehow they are just a little more exciting that a traditional potato slice crisps, and I wasn't disappointed in these at all. They aren't quite as salty as traditional Ready Salted crisps but offer enough flavour, a good texture and a satisfying crunch.
Red Rose Daddy tried out the Cheese and Onion flavour, I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy this flavour of crisps so I thought he, as a cheese and onion connoisseur would be the best man for the job. He enjoyed the flavour, saying they were exactly what you would expect from Walker's, and again thought the crunch was great.
I offered Bud his choice of the three flavours and he selected Roast Chicken. I was a little surprised by this and he doesn't often have 'real' crisps, we tend to stick to cheese puffs and curls with him, but considering that, as stated earlier, Mighty Lights have 30% less fat and no artificial colours or preservatives or MSG, I was definitely prepared to let him enjoy a treat. Bud loves chicken so I was interested to see what he would make of chicken flavour crisps. He absolutely loved them, and wolfed down the packet. His description was 'them are very tasty and very crunchy!'
I've now tried all three of the flavours and have found them to be consistently good. The multipack bags weigh 25g which, for me, offers a good amount of crisps for a treat for a child. I'd have no qualms about giving these to Bud as part of his lunch once or twice a week. My partner did comment that the bag was a bit small for him, but with these crisps being aimed at families I think that's not really an issue. He would just eat two bags!
Walkers seem to have put a lot of thought in to the new Mighty Lights range, they have produced a crisp which contains 30% less fat, is a source of fibre and where all flavours are suitable for vegetarians. Yes! Even the chicken! The only thing lacking, in my opinion, is the presence of Salt and Vinegar in the range, they are my favourite and I think that not having them is something of a glaring omission. Hopefully they will be added in the future. I can imagine that this range will be really popular with parents and children alike. We would definitely recommend them!
