Fun on Family Cycling Activity Holidays
Summer time is for spending with the family, going on holiday and having a great time, but finding the perfect get away for everyone can be tricky. With different ages to cater for the package beach holiday isn’t always the answer, family activity holidays are one way of keeping everyone happy and entertained.Cycling holidays are one family friendly activity holiday that you can tailor to your needs and kids ages. One such fantastic, fun-filled holiday is a self-guided hotel-to-hotel cycling holiday to southern Mallorca that the travel company Inntravel provides.
Quiet country lanes wind their way through ancient Mallorcan farms and salt flats leading to gorgeous beaches. This is a side of the island that not many tourists experience, yet here is the perfect place for cyclists of all abilities. The quiet lanes are just the thing for young cyclists. Set your own pace and take in the gorgeous weather that the Balearic Island has to offer.
Converted farmhouses offer a genuine family welcome, with gardens, swimming pools and delicious, fresh local produce for dinner. These homely ‘agrotursmos’, which means a converted farmhouse are the ideal place for kids to relax after a day’s cycling. With all the space to run around in a safe environment, look for ones with a swimming pool so you can cool off and enjoy a leisurely swim.
Starting from the Migjorn, the beautiful unspoiled coastal plain, you cycle towards the rural heart of the island, through the rolling island plain known as Es Pla, a landscape of tiny farms, pretty villages and market gardens.
The holiday begins with two days at Es Torrent, exploring the southernmost tip of the island, where silent lanes pass windmills to quiet beaches and small fishing ports. The recommended route takes you through Es Trenc, the islands longest natural beach, with fine white sand and clear blue waters. It also makes a great swimming spot! While here you can take multiple boat trips to some of the other islands if you are in the mood to explore a bit further afield.
On day three, cycle north past the windmills towards an area famous for its market town of Campos. There are lots of places to stop off for a refreshing drink and a tasty local pastry in one of the many pavement cafĂ©’s before continuing your journey through the countryside. On the last two days, you have choice of routes available if you fancy carrying on, or stay at the gorgeous Son Mercadal with its pretty gardens and pool.
